Scorton is a small village located on the banks of the River Wyre, situated in Lancashire, England, about 8 miles south of Lancaster and 13 miles north of Preston. Scorton is located on the edge of the Forest of Bowland and is popular with visitors, walkers and cyclists. The nearby landmark Nicky Nook is a popular climb, and the fisheries at Wyreside Lake, Wyre Parks Fishery and Cleveley Mere are also popular with visitors.
11 of us met on a misty morning in Scorton for a 9.5 mile walk around Grize Dale. The route followed farm fields to Grizedale Lea Reservoir and Grizedale Bridge, then continued through Holme Wood, Grizedale Dock Reservoir, and a climb up Nicky Nook for the lunch stop, with great views over the Bowland Fells. The return route returned via Wyresdale Reservoir back to Scorton. After the walk some of group went to The Barn at Scorton for drinks.
