Starting from the A5209 layby on Sparrow Hill, Caroline Knights led a group of 9 walkers, in initially pleasant walking conditions, through Fairy Glen woods and then along the Leeds and Liverpool canal, followed by a gradual uphill walk to Ashurst’s Beacon, with Great Views on a clear day, for the lunch stop. The walk then continued, now in hot conditions, north through farm fields up Parbold Hill to High Moor, before returning to the start. After the walk, the group went to The White Lion pub for drinks.
