On a cool misty morning, 10 walkers assembled at Heptonstall for a 9 mile walk around Hebdon Dale and Shackleton Moor. Starting from the car park at Heptonstall Social and Bowling Club, we followed trails and tracks northwards following Hebden Water, crossing it at Gibson Mill (toilets and cafe) where we stopped for the morning break before heading northwest, skirting Shackleton Moor, where we stopped for lunch, before continuing to the head of the valley. We then headed south to Lumb Falls where some brave people were swimming in the pool below the falls. We then continued down Crimsworth Dean to New Bridge, followed by a steep climb back to Heptonstall for drinks at The White Lion pub.
