In cool but dry conditions, 8 walkers assembled at Marple Bridge for a 9.5 mile walk. Starting at Marple Bridge the route followed the Peak Forest Canal crossing the River Goyt at The Marple Aqueduct (The highest canal aqueduct in England and the highest masonry-arch aqueduct in Britain) before branching off to the south and joining the Cown Edge Way. The route back was along the River Goyt to Marple Bridge, stopping at Bottom's Bridge to view the remains of Mellor Mill (The largest single cotton factory in the world when it was built). After the walk, the group went to The Norfolk Arms for drinks.
