Despite cold, wet and misty conditions, Tracey Parton led a group of twelve walkers and a dog on a 9.5 mile circular walk around Aspull and Haigh Country Park. Setting off from Borsdane Wood car park, the group followed the Rotary Way through Borsdane Wood and across Hindley Hall Golf Course.
From there, the route followed the Leeds and Liverpool Canal before turning onto the Welley Loop Line, a former railway line now transformed into a popular walking and cycling route. The route continued into Haigh Country Park, where the group made their way up to Haigh Hall for a welcome lunch stop.
The return leg looped past the Windmill and Holly Nook, back to our starting point at Borsdane Wood after a damp but rewarding winter walk.
