In dry but cold and windy conditions, Malcolm Chester led a group of ten walkers on a 9.5‑mile route starting from the Information Centre at Ryal Fold. The walk began with a descent through Roddlesworth Woods to Slipper Lowe, followed by a steady climb up to Darwen Tower (Jubilee Tower), where the group enjoyed the good views before heading down into Sunnyhurst Woods for a drinks stop.
The route continued along paths and quiet lanes to Tockholes for lunch, then on through Abbey Village. From there, the group made their way back to Ryal Fold via the Roddlesworth Reservoirs. After the walk, several members of the group rounded off the day with drinks at The Royal Arms.
