In dry but cool and misty conditions, Malcolm Chester led a group of 7 walkers on a 9.5 mile Autumn walk, following The Ribble Valley Jubilee Trail. From the picturesque village of Slaidburn, we went along the River Hodder to Newton, hoping to spot a King Fisher, then on to Giddy Bridge and past Thorneyholme Hall to Dunsop Bridge, where we had lunch. After lunch, we climbed up to Beatrix Farm, where there would have been great views except for the mist, which had not cleared. We then carried on past Rough Syke Barn and along Bull Lane to Back Lane. After a short section of road walking, we turned off to go through Crawshaw farm and over several fields back to the finish. After the walk, as The Hark to Towler pub was closed, we went to the cafe next to the carpark in Slaidburn for drinks.
