For the first walk of the 2024 walking programme, Alan Pilling led a group of 15 walkers on a local walk starting from The Pack Horse pub in Birtle. First to Hooley Bridge then Queen's Park near Heywood for the morning break. After the break walk went to Jowkin Wood, Wolstenholme Fold then Millcroft Tea Rooms for the lunch break, before continuing to Walmersley Golf Club via Cheesden Brook and then returning to Birtle.
