Starting out in damp, misty conditions, Alan Pilling led a group of ten walkers on a 10.5‑mile route to Wainman’s Pinnacle and Lund’s Tower (locally known as the The Salt and Pepper Pots).

The morning section followed a network of field paths and farm tracks beneath the towers, beginning in Sutton‑in‑Craven and passing through Glusburn, Cowling, and Ickornshaw. Gradually, after a shower the weather began to improve as we made the steady climb up to Wainman’s Pinnacle, where we stopped for lunch and enjoyed the sunny conditions and views.

By the afternoon, the weather had brightened considerably and in warm sunshine, we continued along the escarpment to Lund’s Tower before descending back towards Sutton‑in‑Craven. The walk finished at The Black Bull pub, where the group rounded off the day with well‑earned drinks.
